Statement from the Alliance for Secure Energy

The Alliance for Secure Energy is disappointed that the Oklahoma Corporation Commission voted 2-1 to ignore state law and dismiss a request that would have saved Oklahoma electric customers over $170 million.

In 2025, the Oklahoma legislature passed an important step for energy policy in Oklahoma that allows electric utilities to recover expenses during construction. The policy not only supports reliable energy generation and Oklahoma natural gas but also lowers costs by allowing electric utilities to recover expenses during construction, avoiding the added interest that comes with post-completion financing.

The Alliance for Secure Energy will continue to advocate for energy policies that ensure secure, reliable and affordable energy for all Oklahomans and believes this legislation supports expanding natural gas opportunities.
