Statement from the Alliance for Secure Energy on the 60th Oklahoma Legislature

With the conclusion of the first half of the 60th Oklahoma Legislature, energy policy was a top issue addressed by the legislature and state leadership. Energy policy written into law this session will help advance Oklahoma by promoting savings in electric costs as well as make Oklahoma more competitive in recruiting business and expanding our home-grown companies.

SB 998 not only promotes reliable energy generation and Oklahoma natural gas but will also help save electric customers millions of dollars on new generation. This legislation supports expanding natural gas generation opportunities and secures Oklahoma’s ability to continue to provide some of the lowest electric rates in the nation.

As the landscape around energy policy and economic development change, The Alliance for Secure Energy will continue to advocate for energy policies that ensure secure, reliable and affordable energy for all Oklahomans and is proud of a successful session that will have a positive impact across our state.
